I decided I needed a new purse/bag to celebrate getting into grad school, and one that would function well for my new life as a grad student as well. I started looking around on Etsy where I found Natasha Durham, who hand makes custom purses from scratch in Maine. She has numerous purse styles to choose from. Then you get to pick out your external material and the interior as well.
All-in-all it took about 9-10 weeks for my purse to arrive, and I couldn’t be happier! It’s so beautiful, I love the dark, earthy, and semi-worn look. The leather is so soft and such good quality, as is the hardware. The interior color I chose looked just as I had envisioned it when choosing it online.
The thing I love most about this purse outside of its appearance… This is one practical baby… there are pockets on the outside, and pockets inside those pockets, and so many pockets on the inside also with sub-pockets within. The purse also includes a latch to hook to your keys and little loops just for your pens. This is a purse made for organizational freaks like me. I love that I have a little home for just about ever doodad that goes in my purse. I expect we’re going to be friends for a very long time.
In addition to the custom purse I also found the most lovely lady, Kari, of Clementiny Clothing out of Buffalo, NY. I love her clothes and she is so freakin’ nice! I chose two gorgeous pieces, which I had to grab her photos of since my clothes were packed for Scotland when I wrote this.
This is the dress I got, but mine is black w/ a floral print on the hood:
And this isn’t the exact jacket, but similar in style- and again I went with black and a yellow/bird pattern inside:
I had so much fun, once I had chosen the pieces I wanted I placed my order. From there she emailed me and got my measurements and then had me choose the different fabrics. It was such a blast, she was so sweet and nice over email and I definitely look forward to purchasing items from her again. And I must say I have such a girl-crush on her- I LOVE her tattoos!
Check both these awesome women out. You can also ‘like’ Kari/Clementiny Clothing on Facebook!
Have you ever purchased custom clothes/accessories online? What was your experience?
