The Haven: A True Love

I am in love with The Haven. If it’s possible to be in love with a restaurant, which based on my experience I think it is. I did a review of The Haven, way back when this was a wee little blog that didn’t have many readers. Recently, I went to The Haven twice within a few weeks. So, I thought, it only made sense to do another review. I mean, it has only gotten better with age. Each time I go I have an amazing meal and love the ambiance. Plus they have great cocktails, Scottish beer, and more!

Some of my favorites that I must get each time I go include the Scotch Deviled Eggs, which I must try to recreate at home.

I also love the oatcakes and butter they serve before the meal, in place of bread.

And a trip to The Haven is not complete without sharing the Fried Mars Bar for dessert.

The main dishes are delicious as well and change up a bit based on the season. I’ve had a beautiful salmon dish, a hearty lamb stew covered with puff pastry, and on my most recent trip I had the Rabbit Stew. It was SO good. I love rabbit, but don’t see it on menus too often, and excited this dish was so good.

E. got the Chicken Tikki Masala, which we both have been saying forever we should get every time we’ve gone to The Haven in the past. He was glad he finally made good on this as it was so tasty… after a taste myself,  I decided I have to get it the next time I go back.

I definitely recommend checking this place out if you haven’t already. Or going back if you haven’t visited in a while!

  1. Those scotch eggs look great, especially with that mustard on top. And great to meet you yesterday!

They are definitely one of my favorite things there. I mean deviled eggs with fried meat around them? Yes, please. It was great meeting you too!
