Hi Y’all!
I’m Meg from over at Sunshine & Cool Breezes http://www.meagannorlund.blogspot.com/
and I am so excited to be a part of the new Wicked Wednesday’s series!
Lately, I have been in full penny-pinching mode, which I am pleased to say has increased my wallet and my fun. Looking for ways to replace costly activities has forced me to get creative and a wee bit whimsical.
After seeing a bunch of pretty picnics online, I decided to try hosting a “hello, winter” picnic with my sister, made entirely with things from my apartment and one trip to the grocery store (this was necessary as I didn’t have a bit of food in my house).
We started by finding pretty blankets, layering them for effect, then working up from there. Unmatched big comfy pillows helped shape the place, while a pile of pretty, old books with candles added a bit of romance.
An old, desperately in need of a polishing, silver tea pot and cream dispenser were perfect vases for wildflowers (ok, ok,I picked the flowers up from the grocery store as well but I’m still pretending they were wild!). And since no picnic is complete without wine, I trudged out my small wine rack which looked darling off to the side. A wooden lap table smoothed out the lumpy ground, for a balanced surface to support a pretty bottle of wine, two goblets, a tiered pastry rack, and some goodies.
Our picnic was simple consisting of wine, cheese, crackers, and some gummy candies. The gummies added the splash of color the party needed while the cheese and crackers were just yummy. And the secret ingredient: balloons. Tons and tons of balloons! We may have had more fun playing with the balloons than anything else but they definitely were a cheap addition that brought a bit of magic to our day.
Now, go search through your house and see what type of pretty picnic you can stage!
